How do I turn on a free SSL certificate (https)?

Βάση γνώσεων › Hosting and control panel

With an SSL certificate your website opens with https:// and the browser does not show it as "Not secure".

Before you start: the domain must already point to your hosting. Otherwise the certificate cannot be issued.

1. Open the hosting control panel and press "SSL/TLS Certificates".
2. In the card "Free certificate from Let's Encrypt" type your e-mail address under "E-mail address for expiry notices".
3. Leave "Redirect HTTP to HTTPS" ticked, so that every visitor goes to the secure address.
4. Press "Get free certificate" and wait for it to finish.

The certificate is renewed automatically before it expires. You do not need to do anything.

If it fails
The most common cause is that the domain (or www) does not point to the server yet. Wait for the nameserver change to finish and try again. Names that do not point to the server yet are skipped automatically.

The redirect to https can also be changed later: "Hosting Settings" → "Permanent SEO-safe 301 redirect from HTTP to HTTPS" → "Save".

If some images do not show after the installation, or the browser says the page is not fully secure, your website contains addresses that start with http://. Change them to https:// in its settings.
