What happens when a domain expires?
When a domain expires, the website and every e-mail address that uses it stop working, even if your hosting is paid.
Under "My domains" the domain is shown as "Expired", and its page shows the notice to renew it as soon as possible.
What to do
1. Open "My domains" and press the domain.
2. Press "Renew now for 1 year" or, if there is an invoice already, "Pay the renewal invoice".
3. Pay the invoice. The domain is renewed when it is paid.
After the expiry there is a limited time in which the domain can still be renewed. When it has passed, the domain is deleted from the registry and anyone can register it. That time and its cost differ per extension, so do not leave it for after the expiry.
To avoid it, keep automatic renewal on and pay the renewal invoice as soon as you receive it.
